En garde!

A familiar foe puts an unexpected tool to use in a plan to subvert the signing of the Magna Carta, and the Doctor, Tegan, and Turlough are quickly swept into the sword fight. Literally.

It’s a short tale, and a simple one, but we really can’t find any fault with it other than the underutilization of the companions and the predominant lack of a “B” story to mix things up a bit. Davison and Ainley share a platter of scenery throughout, and their sword fight in particular (no stunt doubles!) is wonderful to watch. We don’t quite follow the poor ratings or reflective reviews the story is so often panned with, because in all honesty, it’s a ‘what you see is what you get’ tale…or at least, what you see with the exception of the imposter android.
