Our theory in Flux
When we were handed last week’s unusual “is anybody out there?” teaser for the Doctor Who: Flux series, we were excited enough just to be given a clear, inarguable indication that the new season was ready to go. Little did we know that it was just an appetizer course to a fuller meal we think we should have gotten some weeks ago.
A proper (and we use that term with precision) teaser trailer for Doctor Who’s rapidly approaching Series 13 is here, and there’s a lot to unpack from a pallet of tiny 1.5-second boxes. From anticipated and unexpected characters, to a battlefield scene that has us baffled, to a first look at our boy Dan in…action? jail? There’s as much to speculate as to celebrate, which is exactly what such a teaser should do.
We also have a wild — but we feel TOTALLY plausible — theory as to the connective tissue in all these disparate images and events, and how it connects to the “Flux” theme of the 6-part saga. Trust us: if we’re even half right, we’re geniuses. And if we’re wrong, well…par for the course.
EXTRA:
This past week, our community lost a dear friend and an inspiration that led the four of us into podcasting over a decade ago…and brought us together in the first place. We warmly, fondly, and with heavy hearts remember our beloved companion David “Juan” Jondrew.
