Hot on the heels of a wild series opening salvo, we knew we’d have a change of pace going into the third episode. The building blocks of a great story are there, but we’re not sold on the execution. Theories circulate that this may have been a result of forced editing, something this writer has contended with before, but the end result is a story that has all the right ingredients, hastily cooked without the ideal recipe in hand.

On the plus side, Keir is pleased with the Doctor’s return to “I’ve seen this before” clever strategizing, Haley digs the “Alien” homage, and Jay…well, Jay’s glad to be disappointed with someone other than Mark Gatiss for a change.
