Tegan had just gotten back with the Doctor and Nyssa, and things were looking up as Season 20 began to stretch its legs. You know what CAN’T stretch its legs? Snakes.

With a rattle and a hiss, and a pair of sweet crystal pendants, we return to Tegan’s ‘little problem’ with the Mara. We praise Janet Fielding’s work once again, and love Martin Clunes’ contributions to the performance (and the wardrobe, let’s be honest), but we can’t help but make numerous comparisons to the prequel story ‘Kinda’, specifically looking at the simplicity/complexity of plots, the respective supporting casts, and the viewer’s interest level in the Mara as an adversary.
